The Honda Endurance Racing team has wrapped up a successful week of testing at Nogaro and Le Mans aboard the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2 in preparation for the second round of the FIM Endurance World Championship, the 24 Heures Motos (21-22 April) at Le Mans. The opening round of the championship last September saw the squad place the Fireblade third on the podium after 24 hours of racing.
With the podium at the Bol d’Or fresh in their memory and currently sitting third in the EWC standings, the Honda team welcomed endurance specialist Erwan Nigon to the test, joining teammates Greg LeBlanc and Sébastien Gimbert, completing the line-up for the 24 Heures Motos.
All-three riders boast an impressive EWC record and have all won the 24-hour race at Le Mans at least once in their respective careers. Although present at the test LeBlanc was unable to take part, having received a small injury in the run up to the week, but it was a good opportunity for Nigon who received additional track time as he got to grips with the endurance Fireblade machine.
Over the week the riders worked through changes made over the winter with good feedback and feeling received from both Gimbert and Nigon ahead of their return to the legendary Bugatti circuit for the 24 Heures Motos on 21 April.
